How do I shift back to Classic view for writing/editing posts
-
I hate the new view, and I can’t run a spellcheck, since the function is not on the toolbars, and the keyboard shortcut doesn’t work. Also the ‘Beep beep boop’ makes me think I’m back in kindergarten. ‘Connecting to Worpress’ will suffice
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. At the top of new editor there should be a link to select the Classic editor. If you have cookies enabled on your browser it is supposed to remember this preference. If it doesn’t, let me know and I’ll tag this for staff.
You can also find the classic editor by going to on Posts ->All Posts to edit existing ones. Click on Posts ->Add New to create a new one.
Staff has closed the main feedback thread for the new editor, but you can subscribe to this thread if you want to be updated on bugfixes as they happen: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-post-editor-improvements?replies=5

I also hate the new editor, it doesn’t all me to see all the options and changes, and I don’t get the toolbar on the left. Why do people always think they need to change things to make them “better”? Mostly they just screw up a perfectly good way to do things. A way that works. I have clicked on ‘return to classic mode’ a half dozen times now, it ain’t workin’.
I also know that complaining usually receives no consideration in what the software people decide to do. I hate being stuck with it, so I’ll do the above mentioned workaround as long as I can. I never saw a feedback thread, I don’t use the forums that much.

@fnpcarole
The now-closed main thread stopped just short of 1000 posts expressing basically the same sentiment as you. You can give it a look here if you want: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/beep-beep-boop-screen-is-a-joke-is-this-a-glitch/page/32?replies=945Short version: the new editor is here to stay, but they’re not getting rid of the old one just yet (the exact words were there are no plans to get rid of it). If you pick the old editor the preference is saved in your browser via cookies, which implies if you use more than one computer or browser you’ll need to select that preference in each one and you’ll have to reselect it each time you clear your cookies. If you have cookies disabled it won’t stick, so you might have to add WordPress.com to your cookies exception list in your browser. See here for instructions to do that: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/#how-do-i-enable-third-party-cookies
If you have cookies enabled, try clearing them and selecting the classic editor again. If it still won’t stick, let us know.

The classic also did not stick the last few times I edited existing Posts – but what else is new with the Blue Death Editor?
I was hoping for 1,000 in the old thread – nice round number

I know a staff member was troubleshooting that with another user when they closed that thread, so hopefully it gets fixed soon.
Yes, 1000 would have been nice, though I’m kind of thankful the thread’s been closed – opening my email to see 100+ new replies each morning made me seriously question whether it was worth staying up to date with developments :-D
