How do I show an abbreviated post?
-
I’m trying to turn my blog into a website. On my blog page, I want to display my posts in abbreviated form, such as the title of the post and the first few lines of the post itself, followed by Read More… which I guess I’d have to link to the full post. How do I do that?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can do that using the More tag as explained here:

Can you give that a try?

Thanks. I’ve read the article on More Tag, and I think I can do this with any new blog posts. However, I wanted to truncate all my existing posts. Can I do that with More Tag? That wasn’t clear to me when I read the support article.

Yep! You’ll just need to go back in and edit your old posts to include the More tag. If you click “Edit” underneath your posts, you’ll be able to drop in the More tag just like you would a new post:
Can you give that a try and let me know if you run into any trouble?

I shall try it and then get back to you. But it’ll take me a day or two. Life just got a little mad here :). Thank you.

I tried it on one of my very early posts, and it worked like a charm. The nice thing was that it retained the thumbnail image I had at the beginning of the post. I hope it works as easily with all the other posts I intend to truncate. Question: What do I do when I want to remove a More Tag to show the full post?
-
If you want to remove the more tag and show your full post on the homepage, you’ll want to go into the Edit Post screen. You should see a tag like this:
If you click that tag with your mouse, you should be able to click “Delete” on your keyboard to remove it. Can you give that a try?

I didn’t see the tag you mentioned in the Edit Post screen. However, I found an easier way to remove the “More” tag in Visual Mode in the Edit Screen. I right-clicked on “More,” which highlighted the line. Then I clicked “cut” in the right-click menu, and it removed the More tag. Then I updated the post. I just pulled up the updated version, and it looks good.
Thank you for all your help!!

Wonderful! Glad you found a way that worked. If you have any additional trouble, please let me know what post you’re referring to, and I’ll be happy to help.

Will do. Thank you. I know I’ll have my work cut out for me trying to turn that blog into an attractive website, and undoubtedly, I’ll need help again.
