How do I solve a domain name problem?
-
I represent a client for whom I’m building a new website using WordPress.com. Her current website for a vacation rental she owns is hosted by someone else. She wants to stop using their hosting services as well as switch the existing domain to the new WordPress.com site, as her regular customers are accustomed to that domain name. We can’t reach the person who hosts her current site, but would like to register that domain name as the WordPress.com domain. Do you have any thoughts on how we can do this? Thanks!

My first thought is that you and your client need to read this entry very carefully so you are crystal clear on the differences between WordPress.com free hosted blogs and self hosted WordPress.com installs.
My second thought is you need to consult the types of blogs entry too > http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
To may an existing domain to a free hosted WordPress.com blog please see http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/
