How do I speed up the display?

    I need to increase the display speed. I am displaying astronomical photos and text. Lots of Pics. The originals are in Powerpoint, then they are converted to PDF’s, and then moved to WordPress pages (not posts). Each set of data contains about 50 screens or so, and takes about 30 sec to one minute to display in WordPress. That’s too long. I could break the sets up into pieces, one for each page, perhaps, but the table of contents (the list of chapters, if you will, would be very long. Do you have any suggestions on how to speed up the display? Such as referencing the path on the computer instead of loading the display. Note that these are 50 SLIDES IN POWERPOINT, not videos.

    Thanks for the reply. I’m green at WordPress, so expect anything.

    Then click on Page “Multiple Images…” on right side.
    Takes about 30 seconds on my HP laptop with other stuff running.

    I’ve clicked the following on your blog:

    1. Multiple Images of Astronomical Objects under Pages in your sidebar
    2. …which took me to a link to “TWINNING – 1“
    3. …which displayed a third page with a link to a PDF file “twinning-1“

    The twinning-15.pdf file size is 1.1 MB, and it took a few seconds to load (for me) in Google Chrome 21.0.1180.89, and my download speed (tested at Speedtest.net) is around 12.55 Mbps.

    • What’s your download speed on that computer and internet connection?
    • Can you try loading the same PDF file on a different computer and internet connection to see if you get the same result?

    I ran a speed test on Speedtest,net as you requested.
    Ping was 75 ms
    Download test was 0.43 Mbps
    Upload was o.56 Mbps.

    This looks really slow, doesn’t it?

    I will test on another computer, hardwired to fiber instead of networked.
