How do I stop a person or group from following my blog?

Every time I blog, my message is automatically sent to former professors and classmates. I would like to continue my blog beyond the academic requirement but I would like to stop sending messages to these people. Thoughts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Followers can’t be removed by a site’s administrator. They will need to unsubscribe / unfollow your site to be removed from the list of followers.

In your case, I think your options are:

    1) Change your site’s visibility to Private. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ If you do this, when you make a new post, nobody will get an update (not even your followers). On the other hand, nobody will be able to read your blog (it is now private, after all), unless you specifically invite them to read your blog. This might not be ideal for you if you want to blog openly in public, just without sending stuff to your professors and classmates, so…

    2) Create a new blog and start there. You can also export contents from your old blog (let’s call it A) and put it to the new blog (let’s call it B). B will now have no followers, but contain your old contents. By doing this you are starting from scratch, though, so you will have to promote your blog again, tell other people about the new address, and it might not appear on Google searches for a while.
