How do I stop all my categories from appearing near the top of each page?

    I use the Fresh News theme on my blog (www.malcolmscorner.wordpress.com). I want to remove all the categories (Activism, Affordable Housing etc.) that appear near the top of each page while leaving them on the drop-down Categories sidebar. I have tried to do this using the documentation provided but am not having any luck. Any help would be appreciated.
