How do I stop bogus 'likes' and 'followers' on my posts?
-
Hi and happy new year! When I publish a post, I am getting email notifications of ‘likes’ from ‘bloggers’ who appear to be bogus – the names of the blogs are often odd, and their ‘recent posts’ are in Russian or look like spam. I have not clicked on any as I am worried about viruses etc. Can you please tell me what these are and what I can do to prevent them? Here is an example:
Great posts worth seeing from Glitchy Mind:
Настенный календарь на 2015 год – для СКБ-Банка
Take 12! for Move The Chair Blog
Творческие итоги 2014 года и планы на 2015I have intermittent internet, so if it’s possible to respond to my email address – (email visible only to moderators and staff) – it’s easier for me to check. Many thanks. Kerry

Hey Kerry – I’m going to send another copy of this reply directly to your email although you should get notified through email about this forum post as well.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a method in place right now that would allow you to block likes and follows from readers that appear to be spam. It is something we’re looking into regarding followers. At the moment, the only option would be to change the privacy setting on your site as shown here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
That would restrict who is able to view your site.
