How do I stop domain mapping on wordpress.com and move to self hosting?
-
I just signed up at wordpress.com last week for a blog. I had it domain mapped to http://www.everyday-science.org. That domain is now hosted on GoDaddy. I would like to stop using wordpress.com (and therefore stop the domain mapping and delete the everydaysciencedotorg.wordpress.com blog) and move to wordpress.org due to some of the limitations (ads, themes).
Because I’m a total n00b, I really need this spelled out for me. I’ve installed WordPress on GoDaddy, but every time i go to http://www.everyday-science.org, the bar at the top of the blog still belongs to wordpress.com. Basically, how do I cut the ties with the .com so I can start clean with the .org?
Since my blog is 1-week old and has no actual posts on it yet, I’m not worried about exporting it or page ranks or any of that.

You’ll need to update your domain’s nameservers to point to GoDaddy following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
