How do I stop immediate email notifications to subscribers every time I post?

In my original blog I activated immediate email notifications to subscribers every time I post. My blog is now self-hosted and I have turned off this feature, yet my original subscribers are still getting emails every time I post an article. It’s causing frustrated subscribers to unsubscribe.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Mark,

I’m on the Jetpack team and checking out your site. Our debugging shows that the “Subscriptions” module within Jetpack is still active. You can disable it via the Jetpack page, click “Learn More” on the Subscriptions module, then Deactivate.

Did you export and import your followers into your MailChimp subscription list? I’m happy to remove them all from your Jetpack account to be doubly-sure they won’t get e-mails from both services.

    Thanks!

Thanks. I did as you said, but it seems some people are still receiving immediate notifications as soon as I post! That was a setting from way back when I started the blog. I changed it a couple of months later to a daily email. Then in December I went to a self-hosted website and retained the daily notification. The only ones still getting notifications are the first ones. Any ideas?

  • Hi Mark,

Can you submit an e-mail address of one of the followers who is getting an immediate notification? It’s possible they’ve signed up for your site through a different method and that can help us narrow down this quicker. Deactivating the Subscriptions module should discontinue future e-mails via WordPress.com.

As far as blog settings, while on WordPress.com, the individual followers could control the frequency—not the blog admin—so the followers could set daily, weekly, immediate, no e-mail notifications.

    Thanks!
