How do I stop my formatting from disappearing when I post from Word?
-
When copying and pasting from Microsoft Word onto my blog ccpopculture.com, my text is automatically reduced to plain text, losing all formatting. The formatting is preserved when I post on other WordPress sites (for example, http://500.the400club.org/ works fine), but despite toggling “post as plain text” off, it continues to post without any formatting. As I regularly post blog posts with a great deal of formatting, this is a significant problem! Hoping there’s any easy fix :)

Hi there!
We recently made some changes to the Visual editor, including removing the “Paste From Word” option (replacing it with a “Paste as Plain Text”). You can read more about that here:
As a result, using the Paste in Plain Text will always strip the formatting of your Word documents. This is mainly to avoid having messy strings of HTML as mentioned here:
The best plan of action going forward would be to format the posts directly in WordPress.com. Alternatively, you could use a text editor or a program like iAWriter to write your posts in Markdown.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
