How do I stop new domain redirecting to primary blog?
-
Hi,
I recently purchased the domain name http://www.heathenlycreatures.com from WordPress. My primary WordPress blogs is http://www.simeonfeatherstone.com.
I want these two blogs to be entirely separate, but I think I have mapped the new domain to my primary blog, which means that http://www.heathenly creatures.com automatically redirects to http://www.simeonfeatherstone.com.
Please can you tell me what I can do about this to stop it redirecting, and have the two addresses as separate blogs?
Thanks,
SimeonThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello Simeon,
You purchased mapping for simeonfeatherstone.co.uk, and mapping/registration for heathenlycreatures.com while you were logged into your WordPress.com site, simeonfeatherstone.wordpress.com/. That is why they’re all mapped together.
Could you please tell me which custom domain you’d like connect to which WordPress.com site? I can help with the transfer.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hello thatrobyn
Thanks for the reply. The domain name I recently bought from WordPress is http://www.heathenlycreatures.com. I have already created a blog which on my dashboard seems to be called http://www.heathenlycreatures.wordpress.com, but when you type in the domain name I bought it just redirects to my primary blog.
Basically, what I need is simply that visitors can type in http://www.heathenlycreatures.com (i.e. without the .wordpress part) and then be taken to that blog, rather than redirected.
But I’m not quite sure what I need to do – should I log out of my simeonfeatherstone.wordpress.com account and then set up another blog account in order to transfer the domain name of http://www.heathenlycreatures.com? If so, does it matter what I call that blog?
I would be very grateful if you could take me through the steps of what I need to do.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Simeon! I took care of that mapping issue for you. Both your custom domains should now be connected to the WordPress.com sites of your choice. Take a look and let me know if everything looks good to you.
In the future, make sure that you are logged into the Dashboard of the blog you want upgraded. Our systems will apply all sales to the site you’re currently managing.
Thanks so much, Simeon! Happy blogging :)

Thanks Thatrobyn! I see that the Heathenly Creatures.com domain is now mapped to be the primary domain and that this is separate from my Simeon Featherstone.co.uk. dashboard. But when I type in Heathenly Creatures.com it still shows Simeon Featherstone.co.uk. What should I do to make this a separate site? Do I need to create a new user?!
Sorry but I really am befuddled when it comes to blogging ;)

So I’ve tried http://www.heathenlycreatures.com on another browser on another laptop/phone and it appears to be there. Loud & proud! Thanks!
It still doesn’t show on my browser, which I don’t understand, hmmm….

The old redirect is probably still cached in your browser. Try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below:
