How do I stop people commenting without valid name & email?

My discussion settings are that a commenter must leave name and email. How are people commenting on my blog without filling in a valid name and email and also sometimes commenting with my own user name displayed?

Please confitm the your Discussion settings have not mysteriously changed on this page > Settings > Discussion and I will flag this thread for Staff attention.
Bote that you can control whether comments are automatically approved or if they need to be reviewed before they are published. You can add rules for comment moderation to control which comments get marked as spam > http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/

I checked my settings (again) before I posted the question.
This happens often.
I check the settings each time and they are always as they should be.
I need this to stop happening now because my site is getting a number of views and I want people to have to fill in a VALID email address to be able to comment.
I also don’t want people commenting as myself. -
i clearly understand you but we Volunteers cannot assist with this. When Staff enter this thread they will address your issues. However, you do control exactly which comment you approve and get posted on your blog and which ones you do not approve and do not get posted so please don’t panic. It’s the weekend and Staff have a two day backlog of flagged threads on this forum that they have yet to begin responding to.

I moderate all of my comments and I am about to add to my blog, that I will no longer be approving comments made without a valid email address.
Thank you for giving this matter such swift attention.
I hope one day I will have learned enough about blogging with WordPress to serve in a similar capacity! -

“Valid” is problematic because there is no central database of all email addresses in the entire world. There are some services that have tried to provide something like this, but in my experience they falsely reject more valid email addresses than fake ones they catch. That would irritate legitimate followers that get caught and drive them away.

If they are fakes then delete or spam them. Generally regular people will leave their real email addresses and anyone who does not is typically a spammer. This may be a new tactic of spammers to try and get around spam filters.
See my response above on “VALID”.
Also, set your site so that comments from first-time commenters are held in moderation for your approval (settings > discussion).

All my comments are moderated before publication and I am informing my commenters to fill in a valid email or their comments will be trashed.
