How do I stop photo captions from showing up when I publicize my posts?

  • Unknown's avatar

When I add an image to the top of my post, the caption becomes the first piece of text that people see when the post is shared to LinkedIn. See: https://flic.kr/p/nyvs31
The same thing doesn’t happen on FB or Twitter. How can I adjust this?
Also, I would expect that my “excerpt” field content would be the primary text shared out with a new post, but it doesn’t show up anywhere, even on my blog. Again, how can I change this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Simon, Thanks very much for the image.

Does the same thing occur whether your post is automatically Published to LinkedIn, or if you manually click the LinkedIn sharing button at the bottom of each post?

I would expect that my “excerpt” field content would be the primary text shared out with a new post, but it doesn’t show up anywhere, even on my blog.

Could you please send me a link to a Post with an excerpt that doesn’t appear properly on your site? Here’s a support document about Excerpts that might clear up some questions about where/how your excerpted posts should appear:

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

I don’t know if the behaviour is the same depending on how I share it to LinkedIn, but what I do know is that the FB publicize works *exactly* how I’d expect it to: Title, excerpt, first image. See: https://flic.kr/p/nyznxy

Simon, Your theme, Blaskan, does not support manual excerpts. In order to split text on your blog page, you can utilize the More Tag:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

Regarding the way your posts publish to LinkedIn: When you publish a new post, we send the exact same information to all your social media services. Unfortunately, we currently don’t have control over how they parse and display your content. Therefore, your posts will not all publish the same way to different social networking sites.

I will follow up with our team to see if we’re able to make adjustments on our end, and will let you know as soon as I have a response.

I’ll be in touch. Thanks so much.
