How do I stop sales emails?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi
I manage a for a client. She recently received an email from wordpress.com telling her that they had discovered an issue that had taken her site off line but that they had fixed it.She totally freaked as she has no I.T knowledge and thought her business was doomed.

Today she recieved a sales email from wordpress.com selling cashcamp v3 a get rich quick scheme.

How can I stop wordpress sending my clients email and how did wordpress get their email address. This is taking up my time as she calls and expects me to handle her as she sees it ’email problems’ .

I don’t have jetpack installed on this site.

    Thanks in advance.

We would need to have the URL of the site in question in order to give you an accurate reply.

If you have the reported emails from WordPress.com (both about her site suspension and the sales email), please hang on to them in case they are needed.

There was a programming error that caused some sites to be set to discourage search engines – her site was not doomed but the SEO suffered a bit – probably best to publish a couple of new Posts to helo search engines to get the word that your clients site is open to search engines

Here’s what johnchambersross said in the duplicate thread:

Is there a way of contacting wordpress.com so that I can send them the site address and email?
I don’t want to put clients site and email address on a public forum.

I’ve tagged this for Staff attention although we still don’t know for certain that the site is hosted here on WordPressdotcom.

    Hi Jennifer
It isn’t hosted on wordpress.com but the origonal email telling of the SEO issue was from the wordpress.com.

As I said I don’t want to put either the site url or the client email address so is there some way I can send them to you to have a look?
I don’t want the client being spammed or inundated with sales email on one of my sites.

    Many thanks
    John

    Hi John,

I have sent an email directly to the address which we have on file for you. It should be waiting now! Go ahead and reply and we’ll get to the bottom of this.

    Thanks!
