How do I stop someone from reblogging my poetry and not crediting me?
-
Recently another user reblogged one of my poetry posts without giving me credit for the poem. She reformatted the poem, plus she edited out my name and copyright (c) from the end of the poem. I sent her an email but she never responded. I also posted a comment on her post but she never moderated it (so it doesn’t appear).
This blogger’s name is [edited]. I’ve heard from others that she has also done this with their posts.
Why isn’t there an option in WordPress to block posts from being reblogged? I think this is a major flaw that could be easily fixed. I don’t mind if someone shares my poetry, but not if they aren’t going to credit me. (A link back to my secondary blog is not enough.)
Thank you,
Betty Hayes Albright

Hi there,
We do have tips on preventing content theft and addressing it here:

Thank you for your reply, and I’ll consider whether or not to file an infringement notice.
Wouldn’t it be useful if there was a setting on WordPress so that a person could block having their posts re-blogged? That would help (though I know it wouldn’t prevent someone from copying and pasting a post – but at least it wouldn’t be as easy for them to “steal” content!)
Sincerely,
Betty

Hi Betty,
Thanks for your suggestion — we’ll keep it in mind for future updates. :-)
However, as you mention, it would be trivial for someone to copy and paste entries.
Don’t hesitate to contact us again if you need anymore help.
