How do I stop the domain renewal spam?
-
I recently chose to let one of my domains expire, by removing the renewal details.
Since then I have received an email daily telling me that my renewal is about to expire.
Why?
Please stop it -
Hi there,
For what domain is this and at what email address are you receiving these emails?
The account you’re using to post here hasn’t owned any domain products with us since 2016, and that was for the domain, gnomeaggedon.net, which was only mapped here, not registered, so we wouldn’t be sending you any emails regarding that domain’s expiration. Our logs also don’t show any upgrade-related emails being sent to your account’s email address during the past two weeks.
If you own a domain on a different account, there are different domain emails that are sent in different circumstances:
We, WordPress.com, send reminder emails for the upgrade you buy from us, sent to your WordPress.com account email. They usually come from a
upgrades@email address. If you disable auto-renewal on any upgrade, not just domains, you’ll receive several reminders as the expiry date approaches. The only way to not receive those is to cancel the upgrade entirely and remove it from your account. For domains specifically you’ll also receive reminders from our domain registrar. These are sent to the domain admin email that you provided when registering the domain – this could be a different email from your WordPress.com account email. For most domains registered with us, these come from a
domains-help@email address. Those reminders must be sent by all domain providers for all domains as per ICANN regulations, and cannot be disabled. In some cases you might even still receive these emails after cancelling a domain.

Ok. right.
So short answer.
No you wont respect my choice to deactivate upgrades without daily marketing spam telling me that I need to renew the very thing I have intentionally stopped, nor will you implement a marketing opt-out for this situation.
Thanks -
We can probably help, but we need to know the domain, which is the first thing my colleague asked for.
