How do I stop the spam that is flooding my blog?
-
I have received multiple comments from “different” users/gravators this evening–all with generic praise for my blog with a link to a YouTube video. The link provided with all of these comments is the same:

These are (some) the gravatars that have assaulted my blog tonight (there are others)
“World at Arms Hack and Cheats”
“Easter Event”
“Simpsons Tapped Out”
“Get More Money Tapped Out”
“Hack the Simpsons Tapped Out”
Please tell me how to block these kinds of comments. They aren’t getting caught by the spam filter. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Look at the comments on that post which you have already approved: if one post is getting flooded with spam it’s almost invariably because the post has a pre-approved spam comment on it.

Thank you. I let the first comment through before I realized it was spam, but I have since moved it to the spam folder. The comments keep rolling in and flooding my notifications. Is there any way to stop them?
-
It will take them a few hours to realize that you deleted their test spam. You could close comments on that post if you want; on some themes this leaves existing comments up, but on some they all go away.

Thanks very much for your feedback! I’ll try your suggestion if they keep coming. Haven’t heard any “dings” in a few minutes now. :)
I’m not the most computer/blog savvy person, but I can’t understand how anyone would benefit flooding one of my posts with generic comments. It’s not like I have a huge fan base. I don’t get it!
Thanks again for the help. -
A lot has to do with search engines – the more sites that link to a site the higher the site ranks in searches

I get about 300 spam comments every day. How come the stats page doesn’t show these as visitors to my site?

See here fro visits that are not recorded: http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/
