How do I STOP WordPress from automatically turning my comments off all the time?

I run about 40 different websites that are built on WordPress. Since about 6 months ago WordPress has started turning on the setting ‘Automatically close comments on articles older than 28 days’. I DO NOT WANT COMMENTS TO BE CLOSED ON OLDER ARTICLES.

But WordPress keeps putting this setting on every now and then all by itself (I have never seen that WordPress changes settings by itself in this way before!). I keep shutting that setting off, and when I come back a week or two later, the setting is sometimes still off, but at other times it has been turned on again. It’s really annoying and has been happening like 10 times in the past 6 months! And I am the only one who has admin access, and this keeps happening on all my websites. I also can’t figure out why it happens at certain times. For example it could be when a certain plugin updates, but I haven’t been able to figure out any pattern. So instead I’ve just kept having to go and check and turn this setting off all the time, but it’s really annoying because people then sometimes can’t comment on my blog posts!

Can anyone please help me solve this?

These are the WordPress.com support forums and your account is only 20 minutes old and https://yoaskdkasda.wordpress.com/ has no content, let alone comments. What are the addresses of the WordPress.com sites you are having trouble with? Perhaps your 40 sites are using the WordPress.org software in which case you need to be asking at https://wordpress.org/support/
