How do I swap wordpress.com urls?

  I want to take down my public blog and turn it private. (est. 2007 with a national readership)

  I have a private backup blog. I want to SUBSTITUTE that blog and turn it public. (to explain to the readership why the public blog is no longer available.)

  * The elegant solution is to SWAP the urls and modify permissions before or after the swap.

  Since it has to be a three-part process (e.g. BlogA becomes “BlogX” (temporary holding url); then BlogB becomes BlogA; and Blog X then becomes BlogB) a human needs to be involved, as near as I can tell.

  I am happy to pay the upgrade fee, BUT I want the elegant solution and not the bureaucratic mess and a lot of confusing instructions on how to accomplish this *simple* feat.

  Hi hart00,

  I believe the easiest way for you to do so would be to create backups of your blogs, request for WordPress.com Staff to empty both of them for you, and then import them again.
