How do I take author slug off Intuit post?
-
I have a multi-author site. I found it very time consuming getting my authors who are not wordpress users to sign up so that I could create byline/slugs for them. (Yes, it’s easy, but an extra step no one wants to go through.) I’ve decided to type in byline for certain authors who are not in my system. To do this, I clicked on “screen options” and ticked off “author” so that the box is empty. But when previewing a post for tomorrow, I noticed that the byline still says “posted by Hayley Krischer” (That’s me.) How do I get this off?
Or, is there a way to create new authors even if the person is not a wordpress user?
Thanks for helping…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry but what you are trying is not going to work The theme is not coded to operate in that manner. I suggest that you create a Category for each of your authors under their names and that they type in a byline at the top of their posts and also assign that Category (their name) to their post and publish them. The result will be that you your name will still appear but their will also appear and when you place a Categories widget in the sidebar then all the posts they publish under their own name will appear when their Category (name) is clicked. More that may be helpful here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/12/11/multiple-author-wordpress-blogs/

The “Screen Options” control what you see on your dashboard, not what you see on the post. By un-selecting the author, your are not given the option to select the author on the post screen (the dashboard).
It seems to me the author is part of the theme. To change it you will have to upgrade to do Custom Designs.

Yeah, my co-editor/writer and i are uploading all guest content. This is part of the issue. I was trying to figure out a way not to have any guest authors (we have quite a few) do extra work. We’re posting the article. Not them. But it’s been quite a bit of work having to upload their info as well for each new person. Thank you for your help.

If you wish to purchase an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and edit the CSS then see here please > http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/ -
lifenbits- I like the author element of the theme very much, except it’s not great for guest posts. I’d like to be able to just put in an author’s name-especially if they’re only writing one post for us– and have it be their byline instead of mine.

No Just minor HTML. Is there another theme either of you know off hand that looks like a magazine but has optional author byline? Thanks.

I’m sorry but I cannot point you to a particular theme. Many of the themes available for wp.com blogs display the author’s (nick)name in the post metadata; others don’t. See here for a complete list of all themes that do or do not display author names > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/I’m thinking that if you chose a them that did not display an authors name, entered a byline on the first line of the posts, created a Category for each author’s name and assigned the names to the posts prior to publication, your problem may be resolved.

The themes typically mentions “Posted by” when you publish the post. If you read this literally it means you post the entry, not that you’re the author. You could type into the post an “Written by Guest Author:” to clarify who is the author.

Actually there are 35 or 36 themes that do not display an author at all. :) Typing in a byline is what I suggested above. In fact as I use the Inuit Types theme myself I do that on my guest author’s posts. “by Guest Author: ___________”
