How do I talk to a legit human at wordpress

    I can’t find a number to call at all. The help centre hasn’t helped at all and I just want to talk to someone and see if they can help.

    There are no robots or zombies answering questions here and assuming only Staff have correct answers is not an accurate assumption.

    drewharvie.com recently expired! Oh no!

    “drewharvie.com” is not available at the domain drewharvie.com right now. This domain expired, and it has to be renewed before it is lost.

    We already notified this site’s owners. However, renewing expired domains becomes more costly and complicated as time goes by. We want to make sure they got the message.

    If you know this site’s owners, please get in touch and remind them to renew this domain before it’s too late.

    Expired means over, dead, done ie. complete. One cannot renew anything that has expired.

    There is no phone support here. Getting WordPress.com Support https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/

    However, as I tagged this thread for Staff help the best course of action is to subscribe to the thread and wait until they respond here.

    You will save everyone a lot of time by simply stating the issue you need help with when you create a thread.

    If this is regarding your domain, drewharvie.com, that domain expired a month ago. It looks like automatic renewal failed for some reason, but I can still help you renew it if that’s what you want to do.

    I need help too with redemption of a domain. I received an invoice last night which I paid, $106 for domain redemption for http://www.dawnspowysdance.org. Then no further information from WordPress as to what happens next. It would be REALLY useful to be able to speak to someone. Having paid the money I would expect to have been informed as to next steps.

    My colleague answered you in the other thread 20 hours ago. You only replied to him 3 hours ago, yet you expect an instant reply? We are human beings and require sleep as well. Darnell will answer you in that thread and continue helping you once he comes on duty a little later.

    To answer your question, the $80 fee is what we need to pay our registrar to get the domain back for you. But as the domain is expired it also needs to be renewed. This is at the same cost as you paid for the domain when you originally bought it, $26.

    Please stop creating new threads or threads belonging to other users. That will not get you helped faster.

    But I paid last night, as soon as I received the invoice and as you say above, once payment is received you can reactivate the domain.

    Also, it is terrible customer service to demand money whilst not outlining what the process that will happen afterwards is, nor how long the process it will take, and to send condescending messages about how humans need sleep and telling me to stop posting. Why is it only Darnell can deal with my enquiry? I need my website back up and running asap. It is also really poor that customers have no way of contacting you other than on this forum.

    There are several messages on this forum regarding domain redemption. Why not put useful information regarding the details of the process and the time it takes on your support pages?

  • If your domain is now in redemption, it means it expired over 40 days ago. And we sent renewal reminders to you for two months before that happened.

    Domain redemption is a manual process involving us needing to email our registrar, after which they manually restore the domain. There is nothing instant about this, which is why we automatically activate autorenew on all domains and send multiple renewal reminders – to prevent the situation you now find yourself in. But we can do nothing if you disable auto-renew and ignore our reminder emails.

    Darnell isn’t the only person who can help you. I never said that. I asked you to stop posting into threads belonging to other users, as that’s disrespectful towards them.

    Please get a grip on your emotions and recognize that we have a code of conduct that is based on respectful communication https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-community-standards?replies=1. If you simply provided the relevant details up front in a single thread rather than hijacking 3 others you would not be experiencing the emotions you yourself created and that prompted you to insult those who are trying to help.

    No need to apologise. Domain expiration is a frustrating experience, which is why we have autorenewal and multiple reminder emails to try and help prevent it. In this case autorenewal failed, though I’m not able to see why. Luckily you contacted us before your domain went into redemption, so getting it back is much faster.

    If you clear your browser cache and visit your site again, everything should be working now.
