How do I transfer a domain currently registered with GoDaddy to WordPress?
-
This domain is currently registered with GoDaddy. I wish to run WordPress ads on it. To do so, I must register it as a custom domain with WordPress. Rather than mapping the URL to WordPress, which costs $13.00/year on top of what I’m already paying to GoDaddy per year, I’d prefer to transfer the domain’s registration to WordPress from GoDaddy. But those instructions do not appear to exist on WordPress OR on GoDaddy. Both only offer instructions for transferring registered domains AWAY from WordPress, and not TOWARD WordPress. How do I do this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’d prefer to transfer the domain’s registration to WordPress from GoDaddy.
Wordpress.com does not accept incoming domain transfers. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#transferring-a-domain-to-wordpress-com
The only option is mapping an existing domain and no the mapping is not free of charge. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/Please read > Important Notes Before Upgrading
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading and WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/I wish to run WordPress ads on it.
There is only one advertising program at WordPress.com. Note the blog must be on it’s own domain to be considered for inclusion in the program and inclusion is not automatic. http://wordads.co/
Aside from having a blog accepted into the WordAds program there is no blogger initiated advertising allowed. Here’s what gets a blog suspended here:

http://en.wordpress.com/tos/On free hosted WordPress.com blog we can use a contact form and/or a PayPal button for sale of only products or services created or provided by ourselves.

There is no upgrade you can purchase from WordPress.com that changes any of what I posted above. If you do require an ecommerce site, advertising, affiliate links, paid or sponsored content you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org and move your blog content http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/

Thank you time thief, for the swift and detailed reply. I should have been clearer in my original post. I ONLY want to participate in the WordPress ads program. I DO NOT want to run my own ads.
Having said that, you DID answer all my questions. I now know that mapping the domain is my ONLY option. I think WordPress could have made that apparent in their instructions.
Be that as it may, I have a course of action now. Thank you!
Incidentally, I LIKE the block quotes. :-) ~Michael
