How do I transfer control of the site from me to my secretary?

  • Unknown's avatar

I created a website for my church and I want to transfer control from MY username/password to the church secretary’s, so she can update the site. I sent her an invitation to be an editor but apparently she needs to have a dashboard of her own to make it work. Can I just turn the whole thing over to her?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

In order for her to take over the site, she’ll need to create an account at WordPress.com here:

    https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1

Then, we can go in one of two ways:

    1. You can transfer complete ownership of the blog and all upgrades to her and remove yourself from the blog. If we move forward with this option, she will be responsible for renewing all upgrades, and you will not be able to edit or login to the site at all.
    2. We can add her as a user on the site as you mention following the instructions here:

      http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/#invite-people-to-contribute-to-your-blog

There are several different user roles we could use when adding her that vary in how much she’ll be able to do. For example, administrators can do anything (including deleting your blog). Meanwhile, contributors have very little access.

Can you let me know if she has any trouble signing up for an account and how you want to move forward with adding her to the blog?

Thanks! I wondered if she had to have an account of her own — she doesn’t have one right now. We’ll do this (#2). Appreciate your fast response.

Not a problem! Let me know if you have any trouble.
