How do I transfer my domain name from my current provider to WordPress?
-
My current site is hosted through Vistaprint (www.danistates.com) I want to change to WordPress – but it doesn’t appear that WP allows domain transfers… and Vistaprint won’t allow pointing… The domain name is MY name – so I really don’t want to change it. Is there any way to make this work without having to wait 75 days for my domain name to expire and become part of the open domain pool?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What you can do is transfer the domain to another registrar that will allow you to point the domain to us, for example – GoDaddy.com.
Once you transfer registration you can update the nameservers to point to your WordPress.com site.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks, Grace. :)
I figured it out over the weekend and my site is now up and running.I would, however, like to disable the site that I started before figuring out my solution – it’s already showing up (as blank!) in google search. That site is danistates.wordpress.com
Can you help me disable it so that it’s not published?

Hi there,
Unfortunately, we have no control over what Google decides to show up in their searches. WordPress.com automatically sends notifications to Google with every post and page update. However, search engines can take 4 to 6 weeks (or more) to add any new sites or remove.
For more information about WordPress.com and search engines, please see this guide:
It will also take a couple of days from the time you created your blog (or domain) for it to show up in WordPress.com search results. For more information please see this link:
You can change your blog’s visibility to search engines by visiting Settings > Reading in your Dashboard, and looking under “Site Visibility”.
Please check out our support documentation on that feature here:
