How do I transfer my domain to wordpress.org?

Hi,

Recently started up a website with wordpress.com, but realized as a designer how limited I am with the free version. I am not willing to pay 99 bucks a year just to be able to change a few things around, so I am switching to wordpress.org. I made my domain name with hostgator, but paid the 12 bucks to use it with wordpress.com. How do I get my money back and switch to use my domain with wordpress.org?

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. We provide support only for blogs hosted by wordpress.COM. We do not provide support for WordPress.ORG software installs. You are posting to the wrong support forum. We cannot help you.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
