How do I transform my wordpress.com blog into a more complete website?

Hi. I have a question, not a problem.

How can I make my wordpress.com blog more of a “website,” meaning, a home page with a few other pages.

I do have a domain name (unfortunately I already bought it with another provider, before I realized I could do that with you guys — sorry!), and I have found your directions for making that url my new url (LauraDiamondWrites.com), so that part is set.

Do you have a simple template that could include my blog as one tab, with 3 other tabs that I could use, e.g. “Home”, “Books,” “Social Action” and “Travel” for example? The template I use now has just two, Home and About. Or, would I have to use another site as a website builder and import my wordpress.com blog to that new website?

Thank you. And if you happen to be able to explain this over the phone, I think that would help me understand. [Phone numer removed by staff]. I understand if you don’t make phone calls. Thanks for your help.

Oops — how do I get my phone number deleted from this question, which was inadvertently made public!

Welcome to WordPress.com! I removed your phone number from your first post for you. We offer support by email and forums only right now, and I’m sure we can help you this way.

There aren’t any templates with a pre-setup set of pages, but adding new pages is easy! Check out this tutorial: http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#video

This is the help page you’ll need to learn how to setup a static front page so you can use your site more like a website compared to a blog: http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
