How do I turn my blog into my own domain name?
-
I’m finding this wordpress is not making it easy for newbies to understand how to get a blog going with my own domain.
I bought a domain thru yahoo, and I just started my word press blog. now how do I combine the two-without having to use mysql or php.
Also, I keep reading that wordpress doesn’t allow people to run adsense ads on their blogs. Is this true even if I have my own domain with them? I have to have my adsense on my blog. -
Self-hosted blogs with adds use the .org side of WordPress. This is .com and we know very little about adds. :-D
Her you have the right forum for you. Just copy/paste your post above and try again over here:

Domain mapping will enable you to use your domain name at wordpress.com without any database or file access:
Do note the very important final point about the ToS; you still could not use Adsense. If you must have it, you will have to become self-hosted. See wordpress.org for more.

Absolutely the only upgrade that will allow you to use Adsense at WordPress.com is the VIP upgrade, which costs like $600 to set up and over $200 per month. I can’t imagine you’ll be making that much from Adsense, so I’d advise independent hosting if this is something you really, really want.
