How do I turn of users being logged in to comment?
-
Hi, I get feedback from many people on my blog that they have to log in in order to comment on my posts. i have the “comment author must be registered and logged in” checkbox unchecked, but still I hear that people must log in with either Twitter, WordPress or Facebook to comment. I tried changing all kinds of settings but to no avail. I do want people to fill out name and E-mail address to prevent spam but I don’t feel they need to be logged in with some service to comment. Is there any way (besides removing the requirement for name and E-mail) to solve this problem?
Kind regards,

Hi Astrid,
It looks like your comment settings are correct. I just tried to post a comment to your blog (you probably got an email notification), and I was able to post a comment by just inputting my email address and name. I wasn’t asked to login for my comment.
I believe what’s happening here is that the individuals are entering an email address that is associated with a WordPress.com account when they try to comment. In that case, they will be asked to login to the WordPress.com account. However, if they enter an email address that has never been associated with a WordPress.com account, they will not be asked to login to a service. Does that help to clarify?

Thanks so much. I thought something like this was going on indeed but I wanted to be sure there aren’t any comment settings I did wrong.

Nope! You have everything set correctly. Please let me know if you have any additional questions moving forward.
