How do I unhook my email address from a deleted account so I can build a new one

  I deleted my account so I could build a new one, but my email address is still attached to the old name.

  Please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

  We do not allow users to delete accounts, so you will need to log into the old account and change the email address there in order to use that email address on a new account.

  If you go to the password reset page and use your email address, you should be able to reset the password so you can log in, and from there you can update your account information.
