How do I "Unlike" a post once I "Like" it?

  • Unknown's avatar

I accidentally clicked a “Like” vote for a post. Unfortunately it was my own (bad form to ‘Like’ your own posts)… I would like to “Unlike” the post and may actually need to do that in the future for other people’s posts that I marked with “Like” at some point.

I can see on my dashboard a link to “List all Posts I like”… But I can not see any way to “Unlike” a post once I have “Liked” it.

Does anyone have any idea how to remove a “Like” (by “Unliking” it)?

    Thanks

Click the “like” again and a dropdown appears. Select “View all posts I like”
Wait and when that page loads click “remove”.

See here for illustration and more information > http://en.support.wordpress.com/likes/#reviewing-posts-you-like
Remove Post will remove your Like from the post if you’ve changed your mind or can’t remember why you ever Liked it in the first place.

    Thanks for your reply, Timethief…

Yes, I saw that “remove” option, but could not bring myself to click on it, as I was afraid it would remove my entire post (not just the “like” associated with it.)

WordPress should label this option “Remove Like” or “Unlike” to avoid this confusion.

    Thanks again.

Not to worry. Clicking the remove button will only remove the “like” designation. It will not delete the post. :) I’ve flagged this thread for Staff attention as I think you have raised a point that needs to be clarified in support documentation. Thanks so much for suggesting it. Happy blogging! :)

Thanks for the heads-up @tt. We’ll add the clarification the support page.
