How do I unlock the privacy setting and delete the site and domain name?

I cannot access my wordpress account. I need to delete it so I can have access to the domain benmacaluso.com. I only have one wordpress account so I know I’m logging in properly. I believe I’ve deleted it before but the domain still shows up. I want to use benmacaluso.com for my own professional website but this blog is getting in the way. I need to delete any trace of this site but it says it is a private account. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am not having trouble with benmacaluso.wordpress.com The site benmacalusodotcom.wordpress.com says it is linked to the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff). I am trying to delete this account so I can get access to benmacaluso.com to set up on a wordpress.org account. I need to delete this domain so I can reset it to create my professional website. I can receive emails from this address but when I try to reset the password it says it doesn’t exist. Thank you for your help.

There are no sites owned by the user benmacaluso now. The site benmacalusodotcom.wordpress.com is owned by a different WordPress.com user. You will need to log in under that account to manage your blog.
If you cannot log in, you can use the password reset tool with any email address you may have used for the site: https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If you still cannot access your site, after you submit an email address in the form, above, you can use the link on the follow-up page to contact our account recovery team for further assistance.
Once you’re in the correct account, you should not delete the WordPress.com site unless (and until) you transfer the domain to a new registrar, as you will need to be able to access the site’s Dashboard to administer your domain. You also should not cancel your domain, but transfer it to a new registrar (if you cancel it, you could lose it permanently).

The site benmacalusodotcom.wordpress.com is registered under my email (email visible only to moderators and staff) but I can still not change the password for some reason. I will try that follow up page to contact the recovery team. Your information was very helpful on not canceling the domain. I will try all of these options and contact you if I need further help.

There’s actually a different email address associated with benmacalusodotcom.wordpress.com, though for security reasons I cannot divulge that information. You might try other versions of your email address you might have used to see if that helps.
