How do I update a document without changing its link (URL)?
-
I have several posts and pages with links to PDF documents in my media library. The link to any given document may appear on several different pages and posts. When I update a document in my media library to a later versions (same name), I don’t want to have to find all the pages linking to it and change all the link. Is there a way to update a document in the media library without changing its link? If not, is there a way to search my blog pages and posts for all references to that document so I can change all the links manually? Lacking either one of these solutions, I wind up with a lot of dead links in older pages and posts when I delete the old version document and add a newer version of the same document.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As long as the document is on WordPress.COM you can’t update without changing the URL – I think you can update documents on Scribd and keep the same URL, also file sharing services should allow update with the same URL
Use the “Omnisearch” function from the Dashboard >> Home to search your entire blog for the file name
