How do I update DNS and transfer domain name

    I was using 1 & 1 to host my domain. I recently asked them to cancel my account and release my domain name. They then gave me a verification code and told me that was all I would need to transfer my domain.

    When I type my verification code in I receive a pop up reading that my google code should look something much different from what my verification code looks like.

    So I signed up for google using my domain. All was well utnil they asked me to verify my domain name. I have no access to my 1 & 1 account it has been deleted and their customer service is less that helpful.

    WordPress indicates that my domain is still registered to 1 & 1 and to change the settings for mapping on that end… 1 & 1 tells me to use my verification code which seems to be useless to access the domain name thru wordpress.

    Not to mention I don’t even know what a DNS code is…

    Can someone help me?

    Sadly, there isn’t much we at WordPress.com can do on this end. You will need to get 1&1 to give you back your domain name, or wait until it is released to be re-registered. We do not accept incoming domain transfers and encourage users with externally registered domains to simply map them to their WordPress.com sites using these instructions here:

    You might be able to try and use the verification code to transfer the domain somewhere like GoDaddy if you no longer want to deal with 1&1. GoDaddy customer support should be able to help you with that.
