How do I update my 'theme' on wordpress without losing anything?

  I used to have a web manager and I no longer do, and I’m not HTML savvy. I was told previously not to update my own themes when new updates available without certain precautions to avoid losing content. I have no idea what this involves?

  You are posting to the wrong support forum. We provide support only for sites hosted by WordPress.COM that site is not one of them. Contact your web host.

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
