How do I upload a text file to the root of my blog's domain?
-
Hi, I need to upload a text file to the root of my blog’s url domain for a verification application. Does anyone know how I can go about doing that? Thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The site linked to your username is private.
Thus it won’t be crawled by search engines.
If you are asking about another site, then this may help:

If you are self-hosted, then you are in the wrong forum:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/But if you have domain mapping and are hosted here on wp.com, then auxclass is correct: no FTP access.

Thanks 1tess, I will be making the site public for the duration of the verification process. But right now I am just trying to figure out how to upload a .txt file to the root so the verification bot can find the .txt file under http://www.vandiary.com/verification.txt

Applying your own domain to a WordPress.com blog doesn’t turn it in to a WordPress.ORG blog. You need to find offsite hosting for that.
Also, no matter where you host, if your blog is private it cannot be Verified. That’s part of being Private.

And even if it is public:
You don’t – no FTP access to any WordPress.COM blog.
You can’t upload a txt file to your root

I see, thanks for the explanations, I guess I am out of luck then since my blog is currently hosted by wordpress.

Even if your blog was hosted elsewhere, you can put all the code in your files you want, but if it’s Private the search engines will never see it. So they can never verify it.
