There is no FTP access to free hosted wordpress.com blogs and we cannot upload individual plugins or themes into our blogs here.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/Please read the support documentation so you are clear on the differences between free hosted wordpress.com blogs and wordpress.org installs for self hosting. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

OK, do you think a wordpress.org version is better than a graph paper press website? are you all in the same club? whats the difference between these two paid services?

Read the last link that Timethief referenced to see the basic differences between a .COM and a .ORG blog.

If you self-host at a third-party hosting service such as godaddy, bluehost, etc., then there are no restrictions (but do read their terms of service) and you can pretty much do as you please. It does however come with extra responsibilities.
You have to do all installations, all upgrades, all backups and all troubleshooting your self. If something goes wrong, you will have to figure it out and fix it. I cannot emphasis enough how important complete backups including the database and all files and folders are. If you don’t do regular backups, you can end up losing everything if something goes wrong.
For self-hosting a site, figure an average combined total of $10 to $25 per month for your costs.

If you do choose to move to wordpress.org then this is the link to the do-it-yourself instructions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

Thanks for the information, the reason why I’m reluctant to tranfer to a .org site is my near to zero understanding of web language. Managing it will mean that I hire a bunch of web designers who know the basics. The reason why i asked about Graph paper press was the convenience it seems to offer as compared to .org. Would like to know if Graph paper press is a different set up from wordpress.
Thank you once again for your inputs. -
I couldn’t find the plugin in there. Perhaps one could construct a look-alike for a widget? Is this the site? http://www.photoshelter.com/

Hi universalgeni, the site is correct, you need to have an account with photoshelter to download the plugin that apparently only works on .org self hosted wp sites as mentioned by timetheif and thesacredpath above. My question of graphpaper press.com remains unanswered though. What do you mean by constructing a look alike widget? and would wp support that?

I don’t have an answer to the graphpaperpress question. As it can only run on wordpress.org software and not on wordpress.com software, it seems that you ought to ask that question on the wordpress.org support forum. http://wordpress.ORG/support/
