How do I upload and set a new Header on WordPress site?

  For days I have been trying to upload and set up new HEADER. The media tells me it is uploaded though I see no image (so can’t “crop” for example). And nothing can be seen on WordPress. I need more advice on how to fix this. Please.

  Create a header image of 100 pixels by 288 pixels and upload it here > Appearance > Header

  YIKES! I typed “100 pixels” when I meant to type 1000 pixels.
  The header image is 1000 by 288 (width, height).

  Thanks timethief. Unfortunately your advice is what I read in WordPress. And nothing came up loaded and could be “cropped” and visually saved. Actually, it has turned out that every past image across all pages are now lost and I cannot upload them either. It seems the only option is to delete the whole site.
