How do I upload my wordpress.com media library to my server
-
Hi there,
I have recently taken the plunge and installed wordpress on my own server. I have been able to export my wordpress.com site to my server but all the files and media still link to the files on wordpress.com. I’d like to move all of this to my new server “automatically.” Is this possible and if so what’s my best strategy?
Thanks – Mark

During the import process, you are given the opportunity to have your media library content brought over at the same time. If you did not choose to do that at that time, then you are going to have to move things over one by one and then go through all your posts and pages and fix all the links.
It might be easier, if you have a lot of images and such, to delete everything from the new server (all posts and pages) and then reimport it and make sure and click the box that says you want to bring over your media.

OK
– I moved all pages and posts to trash on my hosted server.
– At my wordpress.com site, I selected “all content” in the export tool.
– At my hosted site I used the wordpress importer and selected the xml file and then ticked include file attachments.
– *some* files imported but then I got this:Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 21352826 bytes) in /home/gooda814/public_html/balcatta/wp-includes/class-http.php on line 1106
Is this a problem with my hosted server or the importer?
Thanks – Mark

It is a problem with memory settings on your account or for the wordpress installation, and you will have to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ and inquire there. That is where the self-hosted software is supported.
