How do I upload non-media data, to be associated with "Annotum Base" articles?

the Annotum Base theme was created to allow importing of files from the now-defunct “Google Knol” site. While it offers a way to upload media files that could be attached to an article, it doesn’t seem to have a way to accommodate other file types (like, say, a .PDF document) that you might want to attach to an article. Or, can the “media” mechanism be abused to upload just about anything? Thanks in advance!

http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/ It’s not theme-dependent. Note that PDFs do not display as images, but are uploaded as downloadable documents. If you want it to display, you have to put it in Scribd or something.

As long as it can be a downloadable thing, attachable via link to an article, I don’t care if it can be displayed or not. I just wanted to be sure that the “Media” upload thing could be used for more things than just media files.
