How do I use an ftp client with WordPress to install this specific theme?

  I just recently joined WordPress and have downloaded third party an FTP client (Cyberduck) to install a theme that I purchased. I also upgraded to use a .com name. The problem is that I am unable to login to the server despite using the Username and Password for my WordPress.com site. What am I doing wrong, should I be using FTP / SFTP?

  I’m sorry, but themes can’t be uploaded to WordPress.com. That’s a feature of self-hosted blogs through WordPress.org.
