How do I use different signatures on my different blogs?
-
Dear WordPress,
I have created several blogs under one profile – one is a personal blog; one is for my own company; and two are for a client of mine. I’m finding that I need to separate these blogs so that each of them may have their own unique signature.
Is there a way to do this in my current account configuration (I have separate domain names mapped already) or do I need to establish separate accounts for each set of blog?
Thank you,
Elaine Davis

Hi Elaine,
Can you explain a little more about what you mean by the blogs having their own signature?
If you mean the “About” section with your bio at the bottom of the blog posts, that is controlled at the account level. You can change your bio under Users > My Profile in your dashboard. However, that will change your bio for all of the blogs.
If you want each blog to have a unique “About” section at the bottom of the blog posts, they will need to either have unique WordPress.com accounts set up as users on the blogs, or they need to be owned by different WordPress.com accounts.
You can create a new account without creating a new blog by logging out of your current account and going to this link:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1
Then, you can add that new account as a user on one of your existing blogs by following this guide: Invite People to Contribute to Your Blog You can use that new account to write content on the blog, and that account’s bio will appear in the “About” section under the blog post. This way, you can still have one WordPress.com account that owns all of the blogs, but you will have separate accounts with unique bios for writing blog posts.
If you’d rather just have one account linked to each blog, you can transfer the entire blog to the new account you set up. That way, the new account will own the blog. You can transfer a blog to another account with this guide: Transferring Your Blog to Another User or Account
I hope this helps! :) Please let me know if you have any other questions about that.

Hi Rachael,
Thank you. I followed your advice successfully…of added a new account and then made it’s bio appear in the “About” section.
Does this change take a while to activate? As I look now at the existing blog posts on my account, they still read with my old “signature”, from the “about” profile that I’d hoped to update.
Question: does the change take time to activate; or do I need to delete the old blog posts and re-post them under the new “signature?”
Sorry, if this is too confusing….you did such a great job with my first very complicated question, that I figured I’d give this a shot.
Thanks again,
Elaine

Hi Elaine – The posts you’ve already published are still published under your old user account, but there’s an option to change the post author on them at the bottom here:

Thank you. This would have been a good way to do it…I just went in and copied the posts and reposted under the new author/owner and then deleted the old posts. I’ll figure this stuff out one day.
Appreciate your response.
