How do I use free name.wordpress.com domain?

  Hello. I would like to use a free domain name that comes with wordpress.com blog. It is something like username.wordpress.com ? I can not figure out how to get that activated. Could you help?

  I can not get past the domain name selection.It offers to pay for a domain name. I thought there was a free option?
