How do I use my existing domain name

    I want to use my existing domain name to develop an entirely new site but leave the old one up. How do I do that?

    Hi, no problem. You’re welcome to create your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.

    I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:
    https://wordpress.com/plans

    Then just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can map or transfer the domain.
