How do I use my OpenID at Zooomr

This isn’t directly a WordPress issue, but I thought someone here might have some experience with it.

I wanted to try out Zooomr with my WordPress OpenID. I ran into a little problem though. As far as I can tell, my WordPress OpenID is working fine, but Zooomr doesn’t let me sign up using it. Their sign up just takes you to a MyOpenID sign up page. I can’t find a way to use my WordPress OpenID. Do they only let you use MyOpenID ID’s? That seems to defeat the decentralized idea of OpenID. Am I missing something?

That’s interesting considering what’s in this FAQs thread because zoomr is listed there http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/03/06/what-is-openid/ Suffice to say that your fellow bloggers voluntarily answering forum questions are not able to sort this. I suggest that you send feedback into staff and ask for assistance.

OpenID does not give you accounts. It supplies some information that demonstrates you are who you say you are and will assist in opening an account should you wish to then do so.

My zooomr OpenID account does not give me a blog here, just like my wordpress.com OpenID does not get me a zoomr account in that name. And my claimID gets me neither.

Yes, I understand that. You didn’t seem to understand my comment. I was wanting to sign up but their sign up links only took me to a MyOpenID signup (to create a new OpenID identity). I could not find how to use an existing OpenID (I was not interested in making a new one).

I figured it out – to use your WordPress OpenID you have to just try to login (as if you had already signed up). It will walk you through the sign up. You just have to have cookies enabled. That was my problem, but they of course could not just say that. Instead I was just getting a generic error message. They also have a pretty glaring lack of any easy to find support info or help. I’ll have to see if their service is any better than their signup. :(

I’m glad to hear you were able to sort this and I want to thank you for posting again so others going through the same process will have some guidance. Happy blogging :)
