How do i use the old custom domain I had on my WordPress on a different web hosting site?

    I used WordPress.com for my e-commerce website, butIi have found that Shopify is a much better alternative. I canceled all of my premium WordPress plans, as well as the domain I was using, hoping that I could register it on Shopify, however, Shopify states that the URL is already taken. Is there a waiting period for the domain to be registered again through another hosting site? Or is my custom URL Lost for good? Mind you, i have not deleted my WordPress​ site, just canceled​ the custom URL i registered.

    Hi there,

    When you cancel a domain it’s not available for purchase again right away and there’s also a risk that the registrar may choose not to release it at all. I’ve gone ahead and contacted our domain registrar and asked them to reinstate the domain for your account to stop the cancellation from going through.

    Once the domain is active again you can change the name servers to point it to a different site on the web. You can also transfer the domain to a different registrar.
