How do I use/reset a theme's free default settings?
-
I was playing with the 2013 theme free colour schemes (blue scheme and green scheme). I then tried to revert back to the default colours (brown scheme).
I can preview my changes and everything looks great with the default colour scheme, but when I view my active site, the other colour scheme is still in place.
Is there a way to reset everything back to the default colour scheme?
Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Go here > Appearance > Customize and click “Colors” change to the default palette and click “save”

Hello, I tried that. But I cannot get the changes to save correctly.
appearance > customize > colours > default > save > your design is published. But the changes do not save.
I am also unsure how to return to my active site from the customize view. I do not see any back/return to site/view changes button.
Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

If you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the annually renewable Custom Design upgrade.
To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

Yes, I read in the support section that the preview for Custom Design upgrade mode might carry over some changes.
I’m not sure what mode I’m in. I would like to have the free option. But I don’t see an “exit preview” link…

I’ve updated your colors for you.
In the future, if you’re using that feature, you can update them by choosing the default (or one of the other options) in the Color customizer, and then clicking the “Save” button at the bottom of the page. To close out the Customizer, you can just click on “Cancel.”

Hello,
I was logged out for a while, saw your response and went as a visitor to my site- without logging in. Unfortunately, the scheme was still blue – instead of brown.
I then logged in and went to “read blog”. Blue again.
I have tried each one of the above suggestions without success. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
When I am logged in and editing/viewing changes (after saving and exiting the Customizer) it is blue. In the Customizer window it says the changes have been saved but they haven’t.
When I am not logged in and visit my site, it is blue.
If you have another approach that could be tried please let me know.
Thank you :)

Thanks for letting me know that the color changes aren’t “sticking”.
This issue has been reported to our developers. I will let you know when it has been fixed.

Hello,
Thanks everyone for all of your help so far.
I just wanted to clarify that the issue seems to be specific to the 2013 default colour scheme.
I can change, save and see the blue scheme, and the green one without a problem. I can also change, save and see the different headers without a problem.
Only the default colour scheme does not seem to function 100%.
Thanks again!

@samriesco, as jackiedana mentioned, reverting to default colors in Twenty Thirteen isn’t working and has been reported for review. In the mean time, I think I’ve found a workaround that might help. Can you try it out and let me know if it works for you?
- Go to Appearance > Customize > Custom Design and click the “Try Now” button
- Click Colors
- Click Default
- Click Save
- Click Custom Design
- Click “exit the preview”
- Check blog front end and the default colors should be back
-
Thank you for your suggestion :)
I followed your directions for the work-around and…brown is back 100%!
Thank you for your help.

Thanks so much for testing those steps for me! Sounds like they’re a good temporary workaround until the bug with the default button can be fixed.
Someone should reply back here as soon as the developers have a chance to review the issue. In the mean time, if anyone else is having trouble reverting to default colors, try the workaround steps as a short term fix.

Hi all,
The default button in “free mode” has now been fixed, please let us know if you continue to have problems!
