How do i widen the blog post area of my blog?

Sorry if this is a repeated question, but i’m new here and i’m trying to make a decent anime blog. Silly i know. :p
But what i’d like to know, is how do i change the width of the blog post area when i look at my blog? (I don’t mean when i’m making a post)
And i’d also like to know how do i make my blog entries on the front page more compact? I mean, how do i make it so whenever the users come to my front page, they’ll see only the gists of my posts until they click the link to the entire post? I wanna reduce front page clutter and also avoid spoiling people who want to see my blog.
If it’s possible, please inform me. It’ll be much appreciated. :)

To widen the theme you are using would be a real mess since the entire header and background area is a series of interlocking images. If you widen the post area, the theme basically breaks and looks like garbage.
In general though, to widen a theme requires at least some knowledge of CSS and the paid CSS upgrade. It is not recommended unless you at least a general familiarity of CSS since there is no official support, and only a few here in the forums with any experience with it. Before buying the upgrade, you can go to appearance > edit CSS and wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try out changes before you buy the upgrade.
