How do make home page display portfolio style?

I’m using the Sketch theme and originally I did this thinking the images would display below the header and you could click the topics but now it’s basically just the post that appears. I really want it to appear more portfolio style. I read about posting my items as projects and tried that but it still didn’t work for me please help! Thanks!
