How do my email subscribers get only posts for specific categories?
-
Hi Wonderful WordPress team!
I am a teacher and am desperate to find an answer to this question! I have two classes that I have set up as “categories” on my blog (www.mrsglover.wordpress.com) – one for my 7th graders and one for my 8th graders. Right now, when parents sign up for the email subscription, they automatically get emails of my posts every day for BOTH of those categories. Is there a way to fix this so that the parents can sign up to recieve posts via email for only one category or the other (i.e. for only one grade level or another – all of my parents get all my posts as emails for both 7th and 8th grades, even if they only need to see the 8th grade posts)? Again, I use wordpress.com, not wordpress.org, so let me know if this is an option.
Thanks for all you guys do – I love following your blog!

I’m afraid subscribers cannot specify the Category for which they would like to receive notifications when following a blog. The only way to do this would be to create two separate blogs.
As an alternative, your subscribers may want to sign up to receive only daily digest of all of the posts so they receive fewer notifications overall.
To do this, your subscribers should click on “Manage Subscriptions” at the bottom of their notification email. Once on their subcriptions page, they will want to click on “Manage Delivery Settings” and change their Default Delivery settings to “Daily.”
