How do my visitors sign up for WP email delivery?
-
Hope this doesn’t sound too newbie. I’ve always used Feedburner to enable email delivery of my blog posts.
Recently, I’ve noticed the subscription information at the bottom of the Stats page. Two people have signed up for email delivery of my blog posts, yet I have no idea how. There is no sign up functionality on my blog page.
So how did they sign up for WP email, not Feedburner? Hope this is clear, thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. When a registered WordPress.com user visits your website, they see a bar on top of the page with several options. “Subscribe” is now one of them since last month. More details here:

Hmm.. I just subscribed to my own blog using the Dashboard stuff and the subscription did not appear in the Subscriptions area at the bottom of the Stats Page where the other subscribers are listed.

@airodyssey – I have no new subscribers to captnmike.com as shown on the Subscriptions tab on the Stats page. Looks like the the Readomatic is separate from the email subscribers.

Following some correspondence with Staff, here’s what I know:
If a visitor subscribes via the “subscribe by email” widget, they will show up in your subscriber list.
If a visitor subscribes via the link in the Admin Bar, they may or may not show up in your subscriber list depending on what they have set as their default subscription setting in the new reader.
- If they choose only to read your posts via the reader, they won’t show up in your subscriber list.
- If they opt to receive your posts by email, they will show up in your subscriber list.

Thanks @justjennifer -looks like the correct answer is “depends” – does make more sense now

Hey, my thread got hijacked! But since airodyssey answered my question, I don’t mind.
Airodyssey — Appreciate you reading and understanding my question, before replying. Thanks!
FWIW — Feedburner is same way, you don’t get any information about your subscribers when they choose feed, just a number. Whereas you (obviously) see email address when they choose email.
Guess I’ll have to continue offering both, so people who aren’t WP users can subscribe.

@justjennifer yes it would be nice to have a count on the number of people that have subscribed to just the feed thing using their dashboard.
